This lovely customer has a collection of gems passed down from as far back as her grandmother. We always like working with individuals who have the same passion for jewelry and gems as we do. These stunning tanzanites were gifts from her husband. He was connected to the world of jewelry and liked gifting his wife special gems. The emerald and round diamonds were also gifts from family.

What was special about working with this customer was the strong connection to her past. Even the jeweler, who ultimately retired, had been the family jeweler for a very long time. This is when we stepped in because she liked our ability to design and to use her personal gemstones.

In the final design the customer opted to use the grandmother’s pear shaped emerald for another suite. The pendant had the emerald pear shape with custom carved pink opal “ume” flowers. The earrings used two emeralds form the mother’s jewelry. For this new design, she was trying to capture the feeling of the blooms from a tree in her garden.

The design for the tanzanite suite was inspired by the Moorish influence in Spain, a special place of memories for her and myself. We openly discussed her enjoyment of her extensive travels in order to create a design that truly resonated with her.
